Indian Hand Block, North
Traditional mud cloth designs made by hand using block printing. Block-printing dates back to 327 BC. The block is made with a lime, holly or sycamore plane then the design is hand drawn onto the block by tracing with lampblack & oil. The extra material is cut away and a pattern "block" is created. A separate block is required for each distinct color in the design. Panels of organic cotton are sewn together then vegetable dyes are used to stamp the print onto your beautiful cushion cover.
